CDH Awarded Elite Distinction as a 2012 Leapfrog Top Hospital
Cadence Health affiliate is one of only seven Chicagoland Hospitals honored
Winfield, Ill., December 4, 2012 – Central DuPage Hospital (CDH), a member of Cadence Health, was recently named a 2012 Top Hospital by the Leapfrog Group. With nearly 1,200 hospitals participating in the Leapfrog Group’s annual survey, CDH was one of only 92 hospitals selected as a Top Hospital. ###
“CDH being named one of Leapfrog’s Top Hospitals is a direct reflection of the commitment our employees have for providing patients with high-quality, compassionate care,” said Brian Lemon, President, Central DuPage Hospital and Executive Vice President, Cadence Health. “Without the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts undertaken each and every day by the talented medical staff, physicians, and devoted CDH employees, this honor would not be possible.”
CDH’s selection was based on the results of the Leapfrog Group’s annual hospital survey, which measures hospitals’ performance on patient safety and quality, focusing on three critical areas of hospital care: how patients fare, resource use, and management structures in place to prevent errors. These measures and practices are of specific interest to healthcare purchasers and consumers, and cover a broad spectrum of hospital services and infrastructure. They also provide hospitals with the opportunity to benchmark the progress they are making in improving safety, quality, and efficiency of care delivery.
“The Leapfrog Top Hospital distinction is by far the most competitive award a hospital can receive. Leapfrog holds hospitals to the highest standards on behalf of our members and their employees,” said Leah Binder, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Leapfrog Group. “By achieving the Top Hospital accolade, CDH has demonstrated exemplary performance across all areas of quality and patient safety that are analyzed on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. This hospital stands out as one consistently providing safe, high quality care, and I would be comfortable sending my family to CDH for care.”
