Thomas Moran, MD
Thomas Moran, MD, is Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for Cadence Health. He has been serving the organization since 1995, when he joined the Medical Staff at Central DuPage Hospital as an attending emergency physician. He was named chair of the CDH Department of Emergency Medicine in 2010 and served in that capacity until he was promoted to his current position in 2012.
As CMIO, Dr. Moran is responsible for helping the organization leverage technology to improve patient safety and quality of care. He leads strategic planning, adoption and optimization of the electronic health record in support of patient care delivery across Cadence Health. Dr. Moran has held several leadership positions, including president of Central DuPage Emergency Physicians, PC, and Epic physician lead for Cadence Health. He also serves in a teaching capacity with the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians, Region 8 Paramedics and the CDH nursing staff, and he frequently lectures at local middle schools, high schools and universities.
Dr. Moran is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and an active member of the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians and the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council. He volunteers his time with Access DuPage Medical Advisory, Cadence Health Foundation and MM Foundation, a charity founded in the name of Dr. Moran’s father that supports local families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer. He is also past president of St. James the Apostle School Board in Glen Ellyn.
Dr. Moran earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Illinois Benedictine College and his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Illinois Hospital.
