David Cooke, MD
David Cooke, MD, is Vice President of Quality and Safety for Cadence Health. He has been serving the organization since 2002, when he joined Central DuPage Hospital as medical director of Cardiovascular Services. He was named medical director of Safety and Quality in 2005, and promoted to his current position in 2007.
Dr. Cooke came to Cadence from Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, where he served as associate director of cardiology. He has been a practicing board-certified cardiologist for 31 years and was honored as a Top Chicago Doctor by Chicago Magazine in 2001. He also holds the position of clinical associate professor at the University of the Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School.
Dr. Cooke is a long-time volunteer with the American Heart Association and was recognized with their most prestigious award, the Gold Heart, in 2009. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a fellow of American Heart Association’s Council on Clinical Cardiology and a member of the American College of Physician Executives. He also serves as an Atherosclerosis Task Force Member for the State of Illinois.
Dr. Cooke earned his bachelor’s degree in life sciences from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He completed his residency at Lutheran General Hospital and a fellowship at the University of Illinois Hospitals.
