Scholarship Guidelines

Scholarship information is released Feb. 1 each year. 

 

Central DuPage Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships are directed to students who have demonstrated a favorable academic track record and who have a strong interest in pursuing a healthcare career.

Post-secondary students must permanently reside in the CDH core service area:
(Bartlett, Batavia, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Geneva, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, North Aurora, Roselle, St. Charles, Villa Park, Warrenville, Wayne, West Chicago, Wheaton and Winfield)

High School Seniors must be nominated by their guidance departments (maximum of three students per school) and must attend one of the following schools and permanently reside within the CDH core service area:
(Benet Academy, Glenbard North, Glenbard South, Glenbard West, St. Francis, West Chicago Community, Wheaton Academy, Wheaton North, Wheaton-Warrenville South)

Scholarships are given for one (1) academic year.  Recipients may re-apply yearly.  Scholarship awards will be made out to the recipient's college/university and are to be applied to tuition only.  Any unused funds are to be returned to the Auxiliary.

Post-Secondary Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, GPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale.
  • All applicants must provide current transcripts.  All transcripts must be submitted directly to the scholarship committee chairman by the appropriate school or institution.
  • College freshman and sophomores must also submit high school transcripts.
  • All applicants must provide two (2) letters of recommendation. (These letters may be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to the scholarship committee chairman)
    • One letter should be from a teacher, counselor or employer.
    • The second letter must be a personal recommendation from someone other than a family member.
    • An application form must be completed.  (These may be submitted on-line or down-loaded and mailed)
    • Each application must also include a personal statement reflecting the applicant's interest and qualifications for choosing a healthcare career.

    High School Requirements:

      Notification:
      Scholarship winners will be notified by e-mail and phone in early May upon completion of the evaluation process.  Any correspondence will be sent to the address provided on the application unless other instructions are indicated. 

      Reminders:
      All guidelines and date requirements must be met or failure to comply will result  in the rejection of the application.

      *APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY MARCH 31 EACH YEAR

      It is the applicant's responsibility to obtain and submit all required information  and forms.  All transcripts must be submitted by the appropriate institution.  All  submitted applications and supporting information become the property of the  CDHA Scholarship Committee and their decision on awards is final.
